The standard we build to
We build to WCAG 2.1 Level AA. Conformance is enforced structurally by our JSONM design system and validated at publication time by MyronCMS, so that accessible output is the default rather than a later correction.
Every page is additionally reviewed before publication using both automated tooling and manual evaluation — keyboard navigation, focus order, screen reader flow, and the quality of alternative text — by a practitioner with thirty years of user experience work including federal Section 508 programmes.
This is a self-assessment. No third-party audit or VPAT exists at this time, and we do not claim formal conformance in their absence.
Where we currently fall short
A good accessibility statement names what is outstanding rather than implying everything is finished. Two areas are known to us and are being worked through:
Alternative text and media descriptions. Alt text, image descriptions and captions across the site were written quickly during development and have not yet had a dedicated editorial pass. That pass follows the final imagery, because describing an image that is about to be replaced is wasted work.
Assistive technology testing. We have not yet completed testing with screen readers and other assistive technology, and our ARIA usage has not been independently exercised. This work is scoped by template and component rather than page by page, starting with the assessments — they are interactive and stateful, and carry the most risk — then forms, then navigation, then the page and article templates.
We would rather tell you this than let you discover it.
Telling us about a barrier
If you encounter a barrier on this site, write to legal@activetwist.com. We will respond within five business days and tell you what we intend to do about it.
If something blocked you, that is worth knowing even if you worked around it. A workaround you found is still a barrier we left in place.
Scope
This statement covers the public website at activetwist.com. Our book and project sites are separate and carry their own statements.
Effective date: on publication to activetwist.com. This statement takes effect when the site goes live at its public address; until then it is published here for review.
